It Is Finished….His “thirst” was quenched by sour wine, a symbol of fallen humanity entering His very body. He had entered into all suffering, both interiorly and exteriorly, and now He was ready to enter into death itself. He spoke His final words and handed over His spirit to the Father.The tearing of the veil marks the end of the Old Covenant and the beginning of the New Covenant. The Old Covenant, with its elaborate rituals and sacrifices, is superseded by Christ's one-time sacrifice on the cross.
